About us
We make the bestfor all our children

What is Charity all about
A better life for young women can mean many things. A girl who completes her schooling grows into a woman who is better able to look after her health and that of her children. By finishing schooling herself, she will care more that her children finish theirs and be better able to support them while they are in school
We are doingthe right thing,at the right time
Like the world-changers who support our organization, we are focused on making a long-term impact by helping kids living in poverty. We have a bold vision: graduating healthy, educated, empowered and employed young adults from our program.
The students supported by our programs face major barriers to accessing education; many are orphaned, living in extreme poverty or dealing with other difficult family circumstances.

Help us build a resilient city for all
In 1989, Charitify opened its doors. It was a place where low-income and homeless Calgarians could get basic medical care and referral services. Since then, we’ve helped thousands of people, but 30 years later, the city has changed – and Charitify has changed too. We’ve moved beyond basic services to an evidence-based, integrated care approach. By applying the science of brain development, that addresses the root causes of poverty and poor health, we create lasting, positive change for our clients, their children and our city.
Options for your donations:
WHERE MOST NEEDED – The needs of our clients are ever-changing and as such, we will apply your donation where it is needed the most.
ECONOMIC – Help us reduce economic barriers so individuals and families have stable homes, access to food and nutrition, improve their skills and job prospects and ultimately increase their quality of life.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL – When people feel connected to their community, have good relationships with each other and learn to navigate through their challenges, their lives get better. With your support, together we will build a stronger, healthier city for all.

Charity is the act of your power
In order to stay independent and do the important work we do, Charitify never takes any money from corporations or government. We rely entirely on support from members like you!

Today, more than 80% of African migration is internal to the African continent and involves nearly 19 million people, including 6.7 million in West Africa and 3.5 million in Central Africa. Women represent 47.1% and young people between 15 and 24 years of age 16% of migrants. Unfortunately, media capacities to cover migration are relatively weak; media content often provide inaccurate description of migration factors and scarce migrant stories or focus on migration risks, thus often misrepresenting migrants.
This project will involve eight countries: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Mali, Niger, Nigeria and Senegal. Young women from the media and communication sectors of the target countries will be involved, and particular attention will be paid to the production of editorial content on young migrant women, who are among the least represented groups of migrant populations.

host an event
Unlocking thewritten word…One sound at atime

Hosting an event
Your charity event can be as simple or as complex as you’d like, from a small bake sale to a grand gala. So don’t let the word “event” intimidate you. Your work will be deeply appreciated, no matter the scale. Whether your project is big or small, we believe the key to hosting a successful event is organization and passion. We’ve put together a basic list to help get you started.
1
Choose a
charity
Choosing a charity is where your passion comes into play. With so many things that can pull on a person’s heartstrings, it may be difficult to choose just one. We suggest brainstorming with a small team of volunteers to ease the deciding process.
Charity Event
2
Organize Your
Volunteers
Volunteers will be the lifeblood of this event. They are essential to making your event successful and maintaining momentum when tasks pile up. Organize your dedicated volunteers into positions, or committees and sub-committees. Distribute tasks to each committee or position equally to keep your volunteers from becoming overwhelmed.
3
Plan Your
Event
With the help of your volunteers, begin planning the many details that will bring your event the donations and awareness that you’re working for. For large events, procure the corporate event entertainment you will need — from Caterers and Musical Entertainment, to Speakers and Auctioneers.
4
Promote Your
Event
Whether it’s a small raffle or a sophisticated silent auction, the message is the same when promoting your event: you’re raising money and/or awareness for charity. People generally want to help local and even national causes when they’re aware of them.
5
Reward Your
Volunteers
This is very important. It doesn’t have to be anything big or elaborate. It could be as small as an informal pizza party, or as grand as a banquet-style gala. But, showing appreciation for your volunteers is a great way to retain the ones you have, and makes it more likely that others will lend a hand.

Impact
A small charityhas a bigimpact.
Charityfy applies a body of scientific knowledge called the Brain Story, which helps to explain the connection between the experiences we have in our lives and our physical, emotional and social outcomes. Whenever a client comes to Charityfy with a problem, we consider the big picture circumstances surrounding that problem. To do this, we use a tool called the Resiliency Matrix.
An Evidence-Based Approach

Brave individual and collective action can make that world a reality
It’s a positive vision, rooted in hope, and the conviction that when people in large numbers believe change is possible, change becomes possible. We believe that when we take Nature as our model, mentor, and measure, we can change the way we feed and fuel our world. We can live in harmony with the Earth and each other. We believe optimism is a form of courage. We believe that a billion acts of courage can spark a brighter tomorrow.

Do your homework
A key step to take before getting into any partnership is to gather all the information available about your future partner. Does their strategy seem well defined and is there any evidence their work is hitting the target? Have a look at their financial reports, whether there is any news coverage, and see how the money is being spent and what their priorities are. But also remember to check the trustee board: how many of them are there? Are they in touch with what’s going on?
Monitoring and feedback
Focused on innovative solutions
Close monitoring and clear evaluation of the projects will allow you to report concrete results back to your stakeholders, while creating a space for reflection to understand what might have gone wrong and whether there is space for improvement.
Strong partnership
Productive cooperation
There is no doubt that productive cooperation between an NGO and a business can be demanding. However, when done right, strong partnerships will bring larger benefits for companies and achieve far more long-term and tangible results for the charity and for wider society.
Strong results
Stakeholders involved
Charityfy work have a lot in common with doing business: goals have to be set and results evaluated. By doing so, you can learn more about what you are achieving and whether there is room for betterment in the delivery of effective and meaningful change.
Protecting Human Rights
Helping childrento get the beststart in life
Equality and inclusion activities.
The first area of work manifests itself across development sectors and also has a strong role in our equality and inclusion activities such as our work with people with disabilities and counter discrimination in access to public services. For example, in a country that guarantees the right to education to all but where girls are often excluded or denied access to school, USAID human rights programming might support organizations that advocate for girls’ education programs, while partnering with the Ministry of Education to ensure that schools have the resources in place to support and ensure girls’ education.
Human rights protection
Environment-building emphasizes strengthening the domestic laws and policies, institutions, and actors that help safeguard against abuses. Programming areas include:
– Strengthening the capacity of human rights
– Training justice and security sector personnel
– Ensuring a country’s national laws and policies
